When they told us that they were looking for someone to take charge of the first public refrigerator in Aarau, we did not hesitate to want to be those people. Public refrigerators for sharing food was a familiar idea to us. Years before we had been with a map in hand walking the streets of Berlin looking at how this works, dreaming of doing something similar in Chile. Today, being part of the Madamefrigo network in Switzerland makes a lot of sense to us and we are excited that these initiatives are becoming more and more common every day.
Being in charge of the public refrigerator in Aarau since 2019 has been a very interesting experience to observe and learn about the reactions of its users, this has allowed us to better understand the differences of interpretation that exist in each territory with respect to environmental issues and potential citizen contributions.
Food waste and its disproportionate numbers around the world is a topic that surprises and excites us to spread. We know about it thanks to our friends from Discosopa in Santiago with whom we have been able to share and exchange information in addition to a very beautiful collaboration that connects help from Switzerland through its foundation Retroalimenta in support of the nutrition of families in the time of pandemic.
