It all started with a bag…
Our different background and experience with consumption and aesthetics inspired us to start CHIZA in 2014 in Santiago-Chile. Where we enjoyed designing, screen printing and sewing differents models of reusable, resistance and durable bags.
Starting this proyect marked the start of a new lifestyle for us. We became more conscious of our decisions as citizen and consumers, which led us to meet inspiring people and discover beautiful proyects from different areas who have inspired us to keep exploring alternatives ways of doing things.
After three years, we changed our approach to design and manufacturing by incorporating discarded materials from the production of other products into our creations. This was a significant change for us.
The year after that, we moved to Switzerland, where our daughter was born and we start a new home and studio from zero. This made us rethink our lives and gave us a opportunity to do many of the changes we have been wanting to realize to live a slow life.
Today, we create everyday products using non-new materials in order to reduce environmental impact.
Sustainable Makers
In a world of overproduction we can easily buy anything if we have the money. However, we’ve decided to challenge ourselves by changing our mindset away from always buying new things whenever we feel the need or have a creative project. Instead, we are trying to forget about that option and find alternative solutions.
This creative exercise has become much more interesting, challenging, slow and also more enriching.
Today that is our way of thinking about daily life and it involves reusing, repairing, and cooking, in which we invest a significant amount of our time. This approach to learning by doing is especially meaningful to us, as we raise our young children.
We are passionate about gathering information and sharing it with others, and that’s what CHIZA is all about.
This website is an invitation, a portfolio, a blog and a store and hope to inspire you and gaining your support in our journey toward a slower, more sustainable lifestyle. We hope to encourage others to do the same.
We are waiting for you Camila & Lukas
